Biography of Klyive - Soul in Motion
Caribbean roots, urban sound
Klyive was born on the beautiful twin islands of Trinidad and Tobago, where he was shaped by the vibrant culture of the Caribbean. Very early on, however, he developed a deep fascination for the urban sound of American cities – a musical longing that carried him far beyond his homeland.
This passion was sparked by his father, himself a singer who had lived in New York for many years. Through him, Klyive discovered the soundscapes beyond traditional Caribbean rhythms like calypso and soca. The soulful depth of R&B and soul, the the raw intensity of rock and the catchy lightness of pop – enriched with earthy reggae grooves from Jamaica, enriched with the earthy grooves of Jamaican reggae – became his inner soundtrack. They still form the foundation of his unmistakable style as an artist today.
Between New York and Germany
At the age of 17, Klyive moved to New York in search of new experiences, self-discovery and the rush of city life. The creative energy of the metropolis, its unmistakable spirit and its urban pulse became the catalyst for his artistic growth.
At the time, Klyive dreamed of becoming an actor, but he was also drawn to the US Army, which offered an opportunity to see more of the world. His service eventually brought him to Germany. What was meant as a temporary chapter turned into the beginning of an unexpected personal and professional journey.
From karaoke bar to the big stage
In Germany, Klyive’s talent unfolded in surprising ways. What started as casual fun at karaoke nights soon revealed itself as his calling. His charismatic stage presence and distinctive voice quickly caught attention – until a spontaneous casting offer set his professional career in motion.
He soon became a sought-after live performer in the German soul and R&B scene, gaining stage experience in numerous formations and performing with bands such as Midnight Mover, Soul Family, Cozmic Soul, Shebeen and Sweet Soul Music Revue.
Today, Klyive is best known as a charismatic interpreter of timeless soul, R’n’B, pop and reggae hits – songs he breathes new life into with his unique signature. With his powerful voice and magnetic presence, he turns every cover into a unique experience – whether performing solo, with his own band Entourage, or in other acclaimed line-ups that have taken him onto international stages, always delivering authentic soul and unforgettable live moments.
